A regional school board in Waterloo is seeking Supply Paraprofessionals (Educational Assistants and Child and Youth Workers) to support students with special needs. The role requires a diploma in a child-related field and effective communication skills. Successful candidates will work on an on-call basis and must meet physical and training requirements. The Waterloo Region District School Board is currently seeking applications for Supply Paraprofessionals (Educational Assistants/Child and Youth Workers). Supply Paraprofessionals will work under the supervision of the Administrator at the school where the assignment is accepted and will receive direction from the teacher(s) at that site. Supply Paraprofessionals may be required to support students with a variety of special needs, including providing support for the behavior, safety, medical and physical needs of a student. A condition of employment as an EA/CYW requires passing a Physical Demands test, and all offers are conditional on passing all components of this test. This applies to any EA/CYW who does not already have Permanent/LTO level D hours. Successful candidates will work on an on-call basis from September to June and must be willing to complete all aspects of the role.

Compensation and Process
Pay rate is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Board and the Educational Assistants Association. Successful candidates will be on an on-call basis from September to June, and will be offered an opportunity to participate in the Board’s entry requirements and training (including BMS where applicable). Additional information will be provided during the interview process.
