The Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal is an independent tribunal which hears and decides appeals from final decisions of the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB). The Tribunal is governed by the Workers’ Compensation Act of Nova Scotia and is the final level of appeal within the workers’ compensation system.
Reporting to the Chief Appeal Commissioner, the Supervisor, Office Services coordinates and oversees the provision of administrative support services of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal. Management and operational responsibilities in this role include effective and efficient control of human and technical resources while adhering to the applications of relevant laws, policies and procedures. As the Supervisor, you will monitor and maintain all financial management information including accounts receivable, accounts payable and purchasing, and ensure compliance with legislation, policy and procedures of Tribunal directives. This position assists and advises the Chief Appeal Commissioner on operational policies and budget maintenance.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to provide direction, guidance, and support to their team.
This position also requires the incumbent to function with a high degree of independence, utilizing considerable initiative and judgement, and knowledge of all aspects of the Tribunal’s operations.
You will possess post secondary training in administration and management along with a minimum of three years experience in a supervisory role within the last five (5) years, which includes directly managing front line staff. An equivalent combination of education/experience may be acceptable.
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate excellent leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to problem-solve using a flexible and creative approach. In this fast-paced role, your ability to meet deadlines and balance priorities through careful time management is essential. Your high level of diplomacy, tact, professionalism and the ability to deal with difficult and demanding situations is key. Knowledge of accounting skills including budget development, forecasting, accounts payable and receivables are essential in this role.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day. May be required to work overtime on occasion.

Salary Range: $2,335.21 - $2,919.02 Bi-Weekly
