Overview

CGC Inc. is a leading marketer, manufacturer and distributor of gypsum wallboard products, interior finishing material and suspended acoustical ceilings. With locations around the world, CGC and USG have the resources, plants, products and people to build walls, ceilings and careers.

Position

CGC Inc. is currently hiring summer students for our gypsum plant, based in Hagersville, Ontario, for the following departments: Board, Supply Chain, Mill, Joint Treatment, Quality, and General Plant Services.

Responsibilities
  • Board: Under the guidance of the Board Foreman, the Summer Student will conduct the daily operations of the Board Line. They may train as a Paperwell Operator, Mixer operator, Knife Operator, and Take Off Operator.
  • Supply Chain: Under the guidance of the Supply Chain Supervisor, the Summer Student will work in the rail car loading area assisting the crew by bagging wallboard for distribution and preparing railcars to be loaded.
  • Mill: Under the guidance of the Mill Supervisor, the Summer Student will conduct the daily operations of the Mill. They may train in the sink float area and perform housekeeping tasks.
  • Joint Treatment: Under the guidance of the Joint Treatment Supervisor, the Summer Student will conduct the daily operations of Ready Mix, Dry-Joint and Textone lines.
  • Quality: Under the guidance of the Quality Supervisor, the Summer Student will conduct the daily job functions in one of the various positions within the Quality department. The student will perform accurate product testing as outlined in the department procedural manuals.
  • General Plant Services: Under the guidance of the GPS Supervisor, the Summer Student will perform maintenance duties such as landscaping (cut and trim grass), painting, small housekeeping tasks, janitorial support, and small maintenance jobs.
Requirements
  • Candidates who are graduating from high school and going to college or university in September will have to provide proof of their enrollment to the program of study from the college or university.
  • Candidates returning to college or university in the fall will be required to show proof of enrollment.
  • Ability to work night shifts and weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and the ability to work as a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be a people and results-oriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work.

Hourly wage: $22.00

*Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
