Job description
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

This opportunity is a 4-month term from May – August 2026, and is on-site based at the Bethune mine.

Reporting to the Wet Processing Day Support Operator, the Student, Labourer will assist with routine mine operations, including oil skimming—recovering hydrocarbon blanket fluid from the reclaim brine pond for Wellfield reuse. You will learn procedures by shadowing experienced staff and take part in safety programs. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting area inspections and audits
  • Review and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Lock Out Lists
  • Assisting operators as required
  • Responsible for personal safety along with co-workers, reporting safety and environmental incidents, continual improvement for safe and environmentally responsible product
  • Performing field rounds
  • Participate in pre-job planning and conduct pre-operational checks (Visual walk-about) for operational safety of equipment
  • Perform routine checks on equipment, minor maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Participating in safety programs and attending training sessions
  • Performing physical tasks, e.g. lifting, turning valves, climbing ladders
  • Participate in team meetings and activities
  • Perform area cleanup as required to maintain high housekeeping standards and limit maintenance and reliability tasks in the area as required
YOUR PROFILE

  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Able to recognize mechanical troubles and vehicle failure.
  • Sound reasoning ability, mentally alert, good communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of self‑initiative, and be comfortable working with a team.
  • Willing to accept responsibility for the safety of passengers and safe condition of vehicles.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Able to work in outdoor conditions and temperatures

The Bethune mine is located approximately 45‑minutes from Regina and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Working hours are 6:45 am – 4:45 pm, Monday to Thursday. Occasional overtime may be required.

Subsidized optional bus transportation from Moose Jaw is available. Transportation from Regina or surrounding area is not provided.
