Job description

We are seeking a student to join its Financial Planning and Analysis team for a 4 months term in Summer 2026. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, the student is part of a collaborative team of professionals, working closely together to provide analysis and insights into the results of Brookfield Renewable’s Canadian power business for both management reporting purposes and strategic decision making. Brookfield Renewable owns and operates one of the world’s largest renewable power portfolios, including more than 250 facilities in North America, Latin America and Europe anchored by more than 215 hydroelectric facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing financial results and forecasts for assigned assets, highlighting variances, anomalies and identifying trends
  • Reviewing performance of assets relative to key performance indicators, including internal budget assumptions and underwriting assumptions
  • Reviewing capital expenditure project spend to ensure alignment with budget and investment strategy
  • Synthesizing results to convey financial highlights for monthly management reporting
  • Liaising with the Operations, Generation Asset Management, Market Research and Energy Marketing teams to update monthly forecasts for revenues, operating costs and capital expenditures
  • Compiling and analyzing inputs for the annual budget process including operating expenses, market price data, generation profiles and debt service schedules
  • Reconciling annual operating plan deliverables to ERP data at an AUM and proportionate view
  • Preparing reports and analysis of results from complex power trading and marketing initiatives
  • Preparing financial models as required to assist in investment decision making
  • Providing support to Capital Markets, Valuations and Business Development functions on various initiatives, as required by specific transactions or projects
Requirements
  • Solid analytical skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Well organized and ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas;
  • Self-motivated and curious, with demonstrated initiative;
  • Heightened interpersonal and influencing skills;
  • Able to meet multiple objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (data manipulation, financial modelling) and MS PowerPoint (presentations);
  • Knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting considered an asset
  • Experience with large ERPs (i.e. IFS, OneStream) would be an asset
  • Experience in power & utilities would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Intent to pursue a Professional designation (CFA, CPA) is considered an asset;
