Dillon’s Highways & Bridges Practice is looking for a Bridge Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects, share your exceptional engineering solutions and provide clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities Design and Project Coordination
  • Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design ofbridges, culverts and other transportation structures.
  • Assistproject managers and engineers in the design and construction of industrial and/or building projects.
  • Prepare documents including construction drawings, contract specifications, calculations, and quantity take off estimates.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, architects and technical and administrative support staff.
  • Perform field work for structural assessments, periodic site inspections during construction, construction observation, as well as preparation of follow up reporting.
  • Review and respond to shop drawings and submittals during construction activities
Business Development
  • Provide quality client services, with particular emphasis on government and infrastructure contractor clients within the transportation market
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation (initiation and submission), reports and presentations, and client liaison.
  • Business travel upon request

  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications
  • A degree in civil engineering. Graduate level degree would be an asset
  • Licensed to practice as a structural engineer
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in bridge design
Experience
  • Proficient in the full range of design activities, including preparation of preliminary and detail design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tendering
  • Experienced in the design of various bridge types, culverts and other transportation structures
  • Proficiency in the use of computer modeling techniques using SAP2000, CSiBridge, or STAAD and familiarity with current AutoCAD software
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communication
  • Proficient technical report and specification writing skills
  • Experience in construction contract administration would be an asset
  • Experience withbridgemaintenance and rehabilitation is an asset
  • Experience with projects delivered for the City of Calgary and Alberta Transportation is an asset
