Qualifications

  • Minimum three years' experience in Corporate Procurement in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of Consumer Product Goods Industry is preferred.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and critical thinking.

Job description

Under minimal supervision, the Sr. Buyer collaborates with the Category Managers to contract, secure, and assist in supporting the delivery of Packaging materials. The incumbent conducts bid analysis, comparative cost control, possible order placement and expediting, vendor management, and validation of demand forecasts to assist with acquiring all Packaging at the lowest possible cost.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Negotiates best prices, delivery dates, and commercial terms for assigned categories. Researches and anticipates shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers.
  • Assists and identifies productivity projects (cost savings initiatives) and works with team to complete.
  • Support Category Managers with invoice issues, price changes and other tactical tasks as assigned. Resolve discrepancies and / or issues as they occur during the purchase order cycle
  • Responsible for managing and reporting purchasing metrics (forecasts, price tracking, PPV, etc.); ensure budgeted PPV numbers are achieved, and variances explained.
  • Manage Strategic and Non-Strategic categories as assigned. Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories where appropriate. Optimizes sourcing procedures / strategies to attain maximum efficiency and minimize risk spending, partnered with trustworthy vendors and suppliers
  • Address vendor issues to ensure the highest level of service.
  • Interface with cross-functional stakeholders in a collaborative manner to improve cost of quality and resolve any quality issues with Suppliers.
  • Develop new supplier relationships, cultivate existing ones, and identify qualified second sources for assigned categories. Initiate and evaluate supplier bids and contracts, manage the qualification of new suppliers, and negotiate supplier agreements and install contracts as needed.
  • Execute RFI’s, RFP’s and RFQ’s as needed
  • Support Category Managers in annual budgets while pursuing lower costs on key commodities. Leverages combined purchasing within Hain
  • Assists with other projects, as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a Corporate Procurement in the food industry or related role.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple priorities and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with figures and in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, with the ability to think critically and perform multi-scenario and complex analysis
  • Highly competent with MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal / writing) effectively.
  • Self-motivated and strong analytical / problem solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across other functional areas.
  • Preferred knowledge of the Consumer Product Goods Industry, ideally in Flexible and Paper / Corrugate Packaging
  • Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • 60,000-75,000 / year (commensurate with experience and location).
