Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Atlan Data Catalog Engineer to lead an enterprise-wide metadata and governance migration from Informatica Data Governance Catalog (DGC) to Atlan. This role will play a key part in modernizing the organization’s data governance ecosystem by ensuring accurate metadata migration, robust lineage, and scalable governance workflows.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands‑on experience with Atlan, metadata migration projects, and enterprise data governance in regulated industries such as insurance.

Key Responsibilities: Metadata Migration & Catalog Implementation

• Lead the end-to-end migration of metadata, lineage, business glossaries, and governance assets from Informatica Dto Atlan.

• Analyze existing Dconfigurations and design a target-state Atlan metadata model aligned with enterprise governance and architecture standards.

• Configure, administer, and optimize the Atlan data catalog to support enterprise-wide metadata and governance requirements.

• Recreate and enhance business glossaries, domains, and taxonomies within Atlan.

• Identify, define, and maintain Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and ensure accurate mapping during migration.

Lineage, Ingestion & Automation

• Establish and maintain end-to-end data lineage across source systems, data pipelines, warehouses, and BI tools within Atlan.

• Implement and manage metadata ingestion pipelines, including native connectors, automated syncs, and custom ingestion logic.

• Develop custom scripts or automation (Python or similar) to support metadata transformation, bulk updates, and migration gap resolution.

• Define and enforce data classification frameworks, ensuring consistent tagging of sensitive and regulated data.

Governance, Security & Validation

• Configure RBAC, access controls, and governance workflows within Atlan.

• Validate migrated metadata for completeness, accuracy, and consistency, ensuring alignment with governance standards.

• Document migration procedures, implementation patterns, and configuration standards to support auditability and repeatability.

• Support UAT cycles, resolving catalog-related issues and ensuring successful migration sign-off.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, BI teams, and Data Stewards to ensure accurate metadata representation.

• Coordinate with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure environment readiness, connector configuration, and integration prerequisites.

• Provide guidance and best practices on Atlan adoption and metadata governance.

Required Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or data engineering roles.

• Strong hands‑on experience with Atlan Data Catalog.

• Proven experience leading metadata migrations from Informatica Dor similar governance platforms.

• Deep understanding of business glossaries, data lineage, CDEs, metadata models, and governance workflows.

• Strong SQL knowledge and scripting experience (Python preferred).

• Experience working in regulated environments, preferably within insurance or financial services.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Informatica D Axon, Collibra, or similar data governance tools.

• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

• Experience integrating Atlan with data warehouses, ETL tools, and BI platforms.

• Knowledge of data privacy, classification, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
