Job description
Sport Marketing and In-Game Promotions Assistant

The marketing group within the Athletics Department at UBC helps to promote the University’s 26 varsity sports teams with the goal of building school pride and driving game attendance. We have several large-scale events that we promote and support during the school year along with a steady schedule of games that take place each week during the fall and winter terms. The Sports Marketing and In-Game Promotions Assistant role helps to support the Athletics marketing team and provides experience with booking in-game entertainment, event coordination, community engagement, and supporting promotions student staff.

This position requires the ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends (e.g., attending and supporting at identified home games and strategic department events) during the varsity season.

Term: Jan 5, 2026 – May 1, 2026

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS

Athletics & Recreation (A&R) is a department within the VP Students portfolio, with a strong focus on creating an exceptional UBC student experience. The A&R Department has a team of approximately 125 employees, and is led by a strong cross-unit management team. It services over 60,000 students through recreational programming, 26 varsity teams, and 13 competitive clubs along with thousands of members of the UBC community.

The Assistant, Sports Marketing and In-Game Promotions reports to the Project Coordinator, Varsity Marketing as well as, works closely with the Varsity Events team. This role also works closely with coaches/varsity staff and with other department facility managers/coordinators, staff and other campus stakeholders.
