Overview

Alberta Health Services, in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, invites applications for a full-time fee-for-service (FFS) and Staff Physiatrist with an interest in neurorehabilitation to be based at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the University is recognized among the world’s top medical schools and a premier health-education institution.

The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation includes 13 full-time academic physiatrists and researchers, approximately 30 associated clinical academic colleagues, and hosts a well-regarded residency training program with 14 full-time medical trainees. The division has a history of strong, well-funded research in spinal cord injury recovery, neuro-prosthetics, and neural integration and collaborates with graduate programs across disciplines. The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, one of the largest freestanding rehabilitation hospitals in North America, serves Northern Alberta, parts of British Columbia, and northern Canada.

  • Provide longitudinal physiatristry follow-up for persons with complex neurorehabilitation problems.
Qualifications
  • MD with certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
  • Demonstrable clinical experience with inpatient rehabilitation management of persons with general neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, stroke, and/or amputation.
  • Leadership and electronic medical records development experience is strongly desirable.
