Job Description
This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge—especially in diesel systems—paired with excellent customer service skills and supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise evening shift operations and coordinate employee schedules.
- Oversee inspection and servicing of heavy equipment, vehicles, buses, and cars.
- Provide exceptional customer service and act as a liaison between shop staff and clients.
- Ensure safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met across all tasks.
- Lead and support a team of evening shift employees, providing guidance and accountability.
- Communicate effectively with day shift leadership to ensure continuity across shifts.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to shop activities and inspections.
- Oversee technical teams in the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
- Plan and coordinate technician schedules and resources to ensure timely repairs.
- Provide coaching, conduct evaluations, and identify professional development opportunities.
- Offer first-level technical support and resolve complex issues quickly.
- Supervise the effective use of equipment and materials while ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair progress and satisfaction.
- Contribute to process improvements by adjusting methods to meet customer and company goals.
Requirement/Must Have
- Prior customer service experience in a shop or service environment.
- Mechanical knowledge, especially with diesel engines and heavy equipment.
- Experience supervising employees in a manufacturing or shop setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team during evening hours.
Experience
- Intermediate level of relevant work experience in a technical field, including team leadership experience.
- Experience managing personnel in a technical or shop environment.
- Knowledge of heavy-duty on-road vehicle mechanics and/or client products.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to foster accountability within a team.
Skills
- Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for hardware and software failures.
- Ability to analyze warranty eligibility and manage claims.
- Proficiency in documenting repair and maintenance processes.
- Skilled in using specialized electronic tools for diagnostics and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills to adapt technical information for various audiences.
- Conflict resolution and customer satisfaction management.
Qualification And Education
- College, university, or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Licensing may be required for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience inspecting and servicing commercial vehicles or fleet equipment.
- Familiarity with branch shop operations and customer-facing service roles.
- Background in both mechanical work and customer service.
