A major city municipal government in Metro Vancouver is seeking a Senior Waterworks Design Engineer to lead a team in managing the design and project execution for water infrastructure. The Senior Waterworks Design Engineer is responsible for managing programs that support the renewal andreplacement of aging water infrastructure. The position provides design, project management and contractmanagement during the design and construction of infrastructure projects; establishes water system requirementsfor development proposals; supports water system maintenance and operations; and provides long range assetplanning in branch, departmental and city-wide planning initiatives.
The position reports to the Assistant Branch Manager and manages a team comprised of Civil Engineers,Engineering Assistants and Survey Assistants, responsible for project scoping, design drawings, budgetestimating and inspection during construction
The position works closely with Water Operations, EngineeringStrategy and Standards, Engineering Project Delivery, and various branches across Engineering and the otherdepartments. Also liaises with external organizations such as Metro Vancouver and BC Hydro .
Education and Experience:
Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work a hybrid work week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
