A leading aerospace technology firm is seeking a Senior Test & Instrumentation Engineer in Ontario. Salary Range: CAD 120,000 – 165,000 gross/year
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test & Instrumentation Engineer to take ownership of engineering test facilities supporting the development and certification of next-generation electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
This is a highly hands‑on, senior‑level role where you will design, build, operate, and evolve test systems and facilities in a fast‑moving engineering environment. Initially, you will act as the first dedicated test engineer, defining methodologies, tooling, and working principles. As the organization grows, this role is expected to evolve into a technical leadership and people management position.
Lead overall test development activities, including test coverage, maintenance, and safety
Define and influence test strategy and support the growth of the test organization
Design, build, and operate engineering test rigs and facilities
Perform hardware integration, assembly, and testing
Operate test equipment and lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Develop test systems using first‑principles and systems‑led engineering approaches
Collaborate closely with engineering, program management, and certification teams
Apply relevant aerospace standards and specifications to all test activities
Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality, productivity, and delivery timelines
Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, safety, and certification requirements
Act as a technical integrator between test, systems, and project teams
Stay current with industry developments and emerging testing methodologies
Contribute to process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability
Support the future build‑out and leadership of the test engineering team
5+ years of experience in systems engineering, test engineering, or instrumentation roles within aerospace or automotive environments
Hands‑on experience with systems development and/or hardware testing
Strong understanding of engineering lifecycle activities from concept to certification
Experience working with ARP4754, ARP4761, and other relevant aerospace standards
Familiarity with eVTOL certification frameworks (TCCA, FAA, EASA) is highly desirable
Ability to work effectively in environments with evolving and changing requirements
Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Leadership mindset with the potential to take on team management responsibilities
