Job description
Overview

As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will report to the Tax Senior Manager and work closely with other team members to play a key role in corporate tax compliance, tax financial reporting, and various filings for the Jim Pattison Group. This role is execution-focused, responsible for preparing tax returns and supporting working papers, maintaining tax schedules, assisting with tax audits, and other duties as required. This in-office position is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and demonstrates a strong work ethic while working collaboratively with internal teams.

Key responsibilities
  • Tax Compliance & Filings: Prepare corporate income tax returns (T2) and partnership tax returns (T5013) for multiple entities across various industries.
  • Prepare the T106s, T1134s, CbC reporting and other informational returns as required.
  • Support the calculation and tracking of tax balances, tax instalments and payments.
  • Prepare other tax filings, such as pension GST / HST, employer health tax, bare trust reporting, and other compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain tax working papers and reconciliations for corporate tax accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax provisions and related journal entries under ASPE.
  • Ensure tax accounts are properly reconciled and documented to support internal financial reporting.
  • Audit & CRA Correspondence Support: Assist with CRA audit requests and tax authority inquiries by gathering and compiling supporting documentation.
  • Work with the Tax Senior Manager and Tax Director to prepare tax audit responses and submissions, as required.
  • Transfer Pricing, Intercompany Reporting, and Other Duties: Support the calculation of intercompany charges and assist with maintaining transfer pricing documentation.
  • Prepare and assist with other ad-hoc filings.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: Maintain well-organized tax records, trackers and documentation to improve efficiency in compliance and reporting.
  • Support process improvements to streamline tax reporting and filings.
What You Bring
  • Canadian CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of dedicated corporate tax experience, ideally a mix of public practice and in-house roles.
  • Enrolled in or completed Year 2 of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian corporate tax principles. Experience with tax financial reporting under ASPE and IFRS is an asset.
  • Experience with tax filings such as T106s, T1134s, CbC reporting, and employer health tax is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic & accountability – You take ownership of deliverables, meet strict deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented & analytical – You approach tax filings and reconciliations with accuracy and logical problem-solving.

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for tax calculations and data management.
  • Salary range: 85,000 - 115,000 CAD.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, some of which are subject to program / plan terms based on tenure.
