Job description
Senior Supervisor, Mine Maintenance (15068)

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Superintendent, the General Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of the maintenance plan to reach company goals. The incumbent will lead and coordinate the Mine Maintenance Execution Team, which consists of several contractors and Cote Gold employees. Foster team spirit among crew members, motivating them to execute the maintenance plan responsibly and with a high level of quality to maximize asset uptime, reliability and to reduce the total cost of ownership. Support, coach, train and create space for the team to be successful.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

AREA 1: Leading and coordinating Mine Maintenance Supervisors and Contractors.

Lead a team consisting of a mix of Cote Gold employees (supervisors, fuel & lube technicians, wash bay operators, pit shovel electricians) and of contractors (Toromont, Epiroc, The Bucket Shop, Kal Tire, Everguard, etc.).

Responsible for H&S training compliance of the team members (including contractors) and to ensure that technical training is provided in accordance with the current and future needs of Côté Gold.

Participate in the recruitment of team members. Ensure the required resources (people and equipment) are in place to achieve targets.

Responsible for managing Cote Gold and contractor work schedules to ensure continuous support to the operation.

Accountable for the H&S of your team.

Perform worksite inspections and safe work observations; participate in and lead investigations.

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.

Lead and empower employees in achieving world‑class mobile maintenance services and improve employee work performance and efficiency through mentorship and feedback.

Lead and maintain the professionalism of the team by being a good example of discipline and dedication.

Create space for the team to be effective in delivering results.

Foster an inclusive work environment and communicate effectively to ensure the various contractors have all the right information and feel like they are part of one team.

Offer new approaches, methods, or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.

AREA 3: Develop and manage the Mine Maintenance Execution Team.

  • Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business plans and maintenance targets.
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and clear direction to the maintenance execution workforce on shift.
  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Highly invested in professional growth and development of maintenance execution team members.
  • Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow‑up.
  • Participate in multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver results and achieve common goals.

AREA 4: Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

  • Work in collaboration to drive solutions and achieve common goals.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers and other third‑party parts and service providers to identify opportunities to improve asset and process reliability.
  • Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions.
  • Develop standards, methods and procedures for maintenance and operation of mobile equipment.
  • Provide expert advice on‑site on mobile maintenance procedures and practices.
  • Ensure the Execution Team is completing work orders correctly and accurately in eAM Oracle.
  • Develop mobile asset maintenance strategies (PM and Corrective).
  • Ensure the maintenance plans and processes are being followed by the Team within eAM Oracle and Viziya Scheduler.
  • To effectively align the priorities and the timing to stop equipment.
  • Prepare strategy for gradual transition from contractors to in‑house maintenance.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

  • College diploma in heavy equipment technician or another related field.
  • Certificate of Qualification in Ontario is preferred.
  • Completed apprenticeship is required.

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • 10 or more years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience.
  • Digital literacy and experience with fleet management systems is required.
  • Experience on the dealer side (Toromont, Finning, Epiroc, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with CAT open‑pit equipment (6060 shovels, 793F, 994K) and Epiroc drills (PV231 and D65) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with autonomous fleet (trucks and drills) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Service Information System (SIS), Electronic Technician (ET), Hydraulic Information System (HIS) for CAT equipment is an asset.
  • Experience with MineStar and Mobius are an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and empower multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal, written and non‑verbal.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Understand efficiency drivers in a mining operation.
  • Self‑motivated individual who is driven to find solutions and strives for continuous improvement in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
  • Take decisions based on the facts.
  • Can communicate the level of importance for the action or strategy to be implemented.
  • Knows equipment in terms of structure and functions.
  • Capability to determine if the equipment is in a good operational condition or not.
  • Able to support a team with identification of parts and arrangement. Find and communicate specific technical information related to the equipment.
