GEMTEC currently has an opening for a Senior Structural Technologist in our Ottawa office. As a Senior Structural Technologist within our Structural group, you will have the opportunity to work on concrete, steel, and wood civil infrastructure projects in a multi-discipline project team environment. Working in our Ottawa office, you will be working for our structural group located in multiple offices (Ottawa, Fredricton, Moncton, etc.). You will report to our Senior Department Manager/Structural Division Manager and be responsible for helping to develop cost-effective, practical engineering designs and construction solutions for our clients.

This opportunity is ideal if you have strong technical drafting/design skills as well as effective communication (both remote and local), and organizational skills to assist with projects and design team. You will have excellent opportunities to grow and develop your engineering skills with the company.

Qualifications and Experience

• Preferably currently registered, or eligible to register as C.E.T. with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologist.
• College diploma from an accredited Civil Engineering Technology program.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering consulting.
• Hands on experience with design software such as Revit, BIM 360, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is an asset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment and dedication to client service as well as technical excellence.
• Proven project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Support engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (buildings, ports, harbors, and bridges).
• Work with diverse teams of various disciplines.
• Assist with projects and be responsible for project completion on schedule.
• Write, compile, and review technical reports would be an asset.
• Be a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design.
• Encourage growth within the group and increase the general knowledge base throughout the company.
