You will also be responsible for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.

The Role

  • Design and analyze geotechnical structures in soil or rock (retaining walls, support of excavation systems, underground structures).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards and guidelines (e.g., Eurocodes, CSA standards, ITA/AFTES guidelines, and applicable local regulations).
  • Perform advanced calculations in stability, soil-structure interaction, and numerical modeling.
  • Prepare drawings (“plans”), specifications, and technical reports that comply with standards and client requirements.
  • Supervise and validate the work of less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, cost estimates, and project planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, structural, environmental, transportation).
  • Provide guidance on construction methods, structural risk management, and material selection for shoring work.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs and propose optimal solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-graduated in civil or structural engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering involving soil or rock interaction.
  • Proven experience in the design of temporary and permanent excavation shoring, with soil-rock/structure interaction (diaphragm walls, sheet piles, anchors, cast-in-place concrete, shotcrete, etc.).
  • Proficiency in specialized structural analysis software (RS2, RS3, PLAXIS, MIDAS, GeoStudio, Robot, SAP2000, or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of international and Canadian standards and applicable codes.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in French.
