Salary Range: CAD 120,000 – 165,000 (annual)

About the Job

A senior-level Software Architect & Engineer is sought to lead mission-critical aerospace software development.

In this role, you will architect and deliver scalable, safety-critical embedded and application-level software supporting flight control, avionics, propulsion, energy management, and system monitoring. You will play a key role in defining software strategy, driving system integration, and ensuring compliance with aerospace certification standards.

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of advanced aerospace technology on complex, safety-assured systems.

What You’ll Do
  • Define software architecture for complex, distributed systems supporting real-time, flight-critical functions
  • Lead development of embedded software for avionics, flight control, propulsion, and monitoring systems
  • Own the full software lifecycle: requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, verification, and certification
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and safety teams to ensure compliance with aerospace standards (e.g. DO-178C)
  • Define and lead a model-based approach to software development
  • Act as a technical leader, influencing best practices and positive engineering behaviours
  • Enforce engineering standards, rigor, resilience, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a technical interface between project management and engineering teams
  • Challenge existing processes and introduce innovations to improve quality, safety, and delivery timelines
  • Stay current with industry developments and apply best‑in‑class engineering practices
What You’ll Bring
  • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering
  • Background in aerospace or automotive industries
  • Hands‑on experience across all phases of the software lifecycle
  • Strong expertise in embedded systems and safety-critical software
  • Experience working with aerospace certification standards (DO-178C or similar)
  • Familiarity with certification frameworks from TCCA, FAA, and/or EASA
  • Systems engineering experience is highly desirable
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional engineering teams
