Qualifications

The Work

The Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter, Specialized Credit is responsible for negotiating, recommending, declining, and in some instances, approving mortgage applications within established guidelines, to be secured by new or existing real estate. They are the point of contact for current EQB and Concentra clients referred from multiple internal and external contacts. They must be able to use their vast knowledge of the EQB Single Family suite of products along with credit expertise to educate potential and existing mortgage clients. They are also responsible for collecting and verifying required documentation, taking the file to the solicitor instruction stage in a timely and prudent manner within established guidelines. This must be done as efficiently as possible while exercising sound lending judgment and without compromising service and profitability.

The Core Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to Equitable Bank\'s/Concentra existing borrowers as well as Direct client inquiries through verbal and written communication channels. The Specialist must ensure that all contact channels are prioritized based on agreed service levels and possess a broad range of knowledge, including the mortgage life cycle and Equitable Bank\'s mortgage products and features on a national level.
  • On a daily basis, respond to client inquiries received from multiple internal and external sources as requested via email or phone, follow up on previous inquiries and log all actions and outcomes in designated tracker as well as PPLUS. Email EQB applications to clients and once received pull required credit bureaus for credit adjudication and discuss with clients lending options. Review received mortgage applications along with supporting documentation and negotiate terms with the client and/or mortgage broker, decline the applications or recommend the applications for approval and in some instances, approve the applications. (40%)
  • Ensure that approved deals close as scheduled and as efficiently as possible and cancelled deals are actioned accordingly within acceptable time frame. Follow up with clients on a daily basis on issued mortgage commitments to ensure the efficient closing of mortgage files as well as collection, review and verification of all outstanding documents required as per the mortgage commitment while ensuring compliance with established guidelines (40%)
  • On a daily basis provide the highest level of internal and external customer service while fielding client inquiries and maintaining relationships. Provide underwriting expertise to clients and co-workers and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of company policies, procedures and products. (20%)
