Senior Manager, Talent Development Programs - Canadian Commercial Banking

Purpose

Commercial Banking is seeking a dynamic Senior Program Manager to lead innovative programs, drive strategic growth, and foster high-performing teams within Canadian Commercial Banking. This role leads and oversees Talent Development Programing in Canadian Commercial Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Senior Program Manager plays a crucial role by creating and managing talent programs that deliver sustainable pipelines to meet our needs and by matching business talent needs with individual aspiration and identified development gaps.

Accountabilities

Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Project Development and Sustainment

  • Designs, builds and implements curriculum and content to support the program, they will be constantly conducting program review and continuous improvement using market research, trend analysis, and stakeholder feedback to identify and implement enhancements. Scotiabank will rely on the Sr. Manager to contribute to team effectiveness through partnership, speed-to-market, simplified processes, talent management, governance, and transparency.
  • Developing a strategic project plan by leading and organizing multiple subject matter experts to execute the project on time.
  • Understanding and meeting stakeholder needs, resulting in developing a robust profile and recruitment plan to find the right candidates for the role.
  • Researching and leveraging relevant internal content. Where gaps were identified, curate and develop program specific content.
  • Organizing and designing a curriculum including the development of functional and behavioral role specific training, guides and supplementary content.
  • Building a communication strategy to socialize the program’s initiatives internally to get buy-in from key partners to drive results.

Execute strong project management principles by:

  • Creating, maintaining and ensuring the timely execution of work plans that identify key deliverables, milestones, owners, timelines, interdependencies, etc.
  • Creating/recommending budget requirements, submitting business cases where necessary and working within approved budgets.
  • Identifying potential challenges/issues that could delay the delivery of an initiatives and formulating alternatives to mitigate these challenges/issues.
  • Collaborating with partners and stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are aligned to the all-Bank, strategies/visions.
  • Engaging key stakeholders and ensuring they are kept abreast of project progress and any potential issues that could delay the delivery of the initiative.
  • Implementing key performance metrics to evaluate the success of a project/initiative.

Manage the creation and ongoing measurement, evaluation, metrics and reporting by:

  • Supporting the implementation of evaluation and measurement metrics of key programs and initiatives by conducting surveys, focus groups and direct calls to the Program Sponsors and Associates.
  • Compiling feedback, reviewing, analyzing and recommending ways to continuously improve current programs and initiatives; or recommending new initiatives.
  • Developing and maintaining dashboard reporting to manage the evaluation of key programs and keep Manager and leaders informed.

Contribute to the program’s goal of fostering a place of pride for employees, retention on top talent and creating high performing, engaged teams by:

  • Supporting various business lines to house information and provide rotational development within the program. Leverage other vehicles to ensure ongoing communication between the trainees (i.e. Workplace)
  • Understanding and proactively taking actions that support the program’s strategic priorities.
  • Contributing to open, honest two-way communication in an effort to increase employee engagement.

  • The Senior Program Manager will act as a key liaison between all business and functional areas within the related business areas and the Recruiters to translate business needs into campus and/or recruitment hiring targets and strategy. The Sr. Program Manager plays a crucial role by creating and managing talent programs that deliver sustainable pipelines to meet our needs and by matching business talent needs with individual aspiration and identified development gaps.

Education / Experience / Other Information

• Post Secondary education: University Degree or Post-Graduate Degree in a field relating to Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Commerce, is preferred

• 4+ years of work experience in talent attraction, talent development, or program management, having exhibited a high degree of performance

• Experience managing a large number of associates/colleagues

• Experience in Campus Recruitment is an asset

• Strong understanding of HR Management Practices

• Ability to effectively sell and market positions within Scotiabank worldwide

• Strong mentorship and leadership abilities

• A mature and enthusiastic attitude

• Experience with coaching others as well as performance management

• Strong relationship management skills

• Well-organized, and can prioritize multiple tasks and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically.
