Role Summary

As a Senior Manager, Global Payroll, you are passionate about payroll on a global scale. You will oversee all aspects of the payroll cycle for the D2L group of companies and lead our Payroll Team and payroll processes to ensure our compensation programs are delivered effectively as the company grows domestically and internationally.

How You Will Make An Impact

Global Payroll Operations & Compliance
  • Manage the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for Canada, US, and various international locations (EMEA, LATAM, APAC) in partnership with local in-country payroll providers
  • Confirm accuracy of employee data (new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, salary changes)
  • Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and reconciliations in collaboration with Finance
  • Ensure compliance with local labor, tax, and statutory regulations, including year-end reporting (T4s, W-2s, EHT, etc.)
  • Stay current on global employment and tax law changes and ensure best practices are adopted
  • Prepare and file required reports and / or payments to government agencies
  • Support ad hoc reporting, reconciliations, and internal / external audits
  • Resolve escalations promptly, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes
Systems & Process Management
  • Act as the “superuser” for Ceridian Dayforce HRIS / payroll system, troubleshooting issues and leading enhancements
  • Partner with the People & Culture team to integrate payroll with HRIS and financial systems, driving automation and improved data integrity
  • Continuously assess and refine payroll processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience
  • Identify automation opportunities, leveraging emerging technologies and AI tools to lead payroll process enhancements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Participate in cross-functional corporate projects with payroll implications, including M&A integrations, system implementations, etc.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in payroll, providing input on cross-functional projects and serving as a key advisor to the Finance, People & Culture, and Legal teams
  • Streamline and enhance payroll policies, procedures, and operating methods to increase overall productivity and efficiency
People Leadership and Performance
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing payroll team, ensuring clear objectives, professional growth, and strong execution
  • Foster an effective team environment by mentoring and guiding junior members
  • Support vision, planning and defining team objectives in line with D2L’s overall objectives, and lead the execution of team deliverables
  • Develop strong relationships with peers and leaders to drive productivity and hold the team accountable for high-quality outcomes

  • Deep understanding of Canadian and US payroll with proven experience managing payroll across multiple global jurisdictions

  • Experience administering global payroll using HRIS / payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce and / or ADP Global)
  • Experience leading and coaching payroll teams
  • Ability to build cross-functional working relationships
  • Certifications such as PCP, CPM, or Global Payroll Management Certificate are a strong asset
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or related field

Note : D2L has a hybrid work model for certain office locations; location and arrangements discussed during interview. Candidates must be located in the Eastern Time Zone.

Compensation

The closing date for this posting is September 17th. Applications received before the closing date will be prioritized. The base salary range listed is for guidance and may be adjusted by knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Base salary range : $100,000—$115,000 CAD . Eligible for additional benefits as part of total compensation.
