In this role you will represent the Meetings & Events team as a leader and events expert, collaborating with senior partners and cross-functional colleagues to design and deliver high-impact events that strengthen RBC’s brand.

As a Senior Manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of event planning and execution for large programs – from concept to delivery. This may include acting as a meeting manager, executive producer and technical director, ensuring the seamless integration of logistics and technical elements. Your focus will be on creating professional, engaging and memorable events that support RBC’s business objectives.

If you’re passionate about driving results through strategic event management, we’d love to hear from you!

What will you do?

  • Be a strategic partner to senior stakeholders across the organization, providing events advice and counsel on large scale programs for both internal and external audiences.
  • Manage select high profile global meetings and national events, including sponsorship events, internal executive conferences and town hall meetings. This means aligning to key objectives, helping to develop the agenda, designing the event theme, negotiating supplier/vendor contracts and managing those relationships as well as managing appropriate logistical details.
  • Manage large budgets with oversight by the business, including negotiating and executing new and renewed contract agreements. This means evaluating and negotiating rights, rates, terms & conditions, presenting opportunities, options and recommendations to senior stakeholders and managing the contracts through the legal and procurement process.
  • Manage and oversee all supplier activity during events, including but not limited to event related video production, staging, facility staff and audio-visual production.
  • Create event-related materials including reports, critical paths, pre-event plans, registration and proposals and oversee reconciliation of budgets and post-event summaries.
  • Coach other members of the team, including managers, coordinators, interns and co-op students. Provide guidance to more junior members of the team on materials for the team’s webpage, including relevant best practices as well as event templates and tutorials.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum 8+ years of work experience in corporate meeting and event planning
  • Proven track record of leadership in project management, event management, organization and budgeting skills
  • Initiative and confidence; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also acting and producing autonomously, when necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with customer service orientation and the ability to build relationships with senior leaders
  • Fresh, innovative ideas to enhance event concepts and audience experience that align with brand standards
  • High standards for quality and consistency with a flexible attitude, sound judgement and discretion
  • Ability and willingness to travel for various event locations/sites
  • Technical / tool knowledge in video webcast, WebEx, AV production
