The incumbent implements Hedging Strategies under IFRS to ensure the Bank qualify eligible derivatives for hedge accounting treatment, thus immunizing any volatility in the Bank earnings and add value to the business lines.

The Opportunity: to gain experience with technical accounting knowledge in variety of Bank’s financial products, valuations & analysis and reporting. Can enjoy dealing with business partners globally and manage variety of projects for operational process improvements.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
  • Manage tight month end close by reviewing, reconciling, analyzing, and communicating the hedge accounting results for various hedging units to Group Treasury and other business partners.
  • Review/Prepare information for the quarterly submission and annual financial disclosure. Also perform/provide guidance for ad-hoc analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate various group initiatives/projects, including implementation of new hedge strategies/upcoming standard such as dynamic risk management standard/changes of overall market convention.
  • Review/improve existing operational processes/internal controls and associated documentations (i.e., RCM, process documents, Desk top procedure, roles and responsibility memorandum etc.) by collaborating with other team members, regulatory risk governance, and internal/external auditors.
  • Liaison with regulatory governance controls and interna/external auditors on various control exercises/inquiries and audit requests.
  • Coordinate/perform team wide activities including HAM/OCI reconciliation for IB units, GL account mapping, IBA/ICA reconciliation, BCP review/update/test and other ad-hoc tasks.
  • Remain current with emerging industry best practices for hedge qualification through research, and critical reading of articles issued by regulatory bodies and industry associations.
What you’ll need
  • Curious, analytical, and collaborative; problem-solving, time-management and communication skills is required.
  • Willingness to take ownership of new initiatives and bring them to fruition.
  • Solid knowledge of hedge accounting, finance and financial products including various derivatives.
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance/Accounting/business with a minimum of 7 years experiences. An accounting designation (CPA) is must. A CFA designation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Peak or other trading systems, PeopleSoft EGL, OBI, Excel, Power Point;
