Job description

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Hybrid

Term: Perm

High Tech Genesis is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer who will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, architecture, design, testing, and delivery to manufacturing of carrier-grade hardware. This includes hardware for optical line systems supporting 400Gbps and beyond, as well as broadband fiber access systems with PON rates up to 50Gbps.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead HW development projects and advise and mentor other HW team members.

  • Own all aspects of circuit pack development schedule, prototype delivery, product testing and product certification.

  • Work with product line management and other managers to interpret and negotiate product features and specifications.

  • Lead and interface with contract resources outside of your organization.

  • Define technical specifications to support design concepts, and participate in specification peer reviews.

  • Participate in design reviews, guide technical discussions to conclusion.

  • Interface with component vendors and negotiate design specifications with external suppliers.

  • Review Designs to ensure they meet architecture goals.

  • Support the technology transfer to manufacturing/production testing.


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with over 12 years of experience in developing optical transport systems, fiber access equipment, or high-speed circuit packs.

  • Experience with 1RU-14RU carrier-grade system requirements and high-speed optical and access fiber transmission systems

  • Experience with board level development and being a lead designer for development projects

  • Experience and understanding of design for testability and manufacturability concepts

  • Experience in developing environmentally hardened optical transport and access systems Expertise in a broad range of optical interfaces and telecommunications standards, including those exceeding 400G, is highly valued.
