Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst provides expert financial planning and analysis services related to the annual operating and capital budget, which is prepared for review by Finance leadership, Senior Management, and final approval by the Governance Council. This individual is also tasked with producing quarterly operational and capital expenditure reports that are reviewed by Leadership before being submitted to the Governance Council. A significant part of the role involves the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance reports.

Furthermore, the Senior Financial analyst provides professional advice and interpretation to various departments on complex accounting standards, including GAAP, IFRS, and FAA, as well as relevant WSCC directives.

Here are a few ways you will make a difference:

• Providing analysis and advice to the Chief Financial Officer/VP, Financial Services and Finance Leadership Team through the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis on financial decisions and technical advice on the budget management and financial analysis process.
• Supporting and/or providing technical expertise in the development of the WSCC’s Annual Budget.
• Providing performance measurement and coordinating and compiling corporate reports such as the Monthly Variance Analysis and the Quarterly Variance Report and Projections.
