Sedgman is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, B.C.. The ideal incumbent will be a mentor and coach to a young and enthusiastic team. He/she will be responsible for managing the electrical engineering design team in the Vancouver office.

Sedgman is a consulting engineering company in the mining space and is currently experiencing a rapid expansion in North America; our Vancouver office is positioned for growth, and this role is business critical within the organization.

What does this role involve? Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical team in the execution of electrical engineering and design for mineral processing projects and associated infrastructure. (may include: industrial processing, precious metals and/or iron ore plants, as well as associated services ).

  • Develop proposals, conceptual designs for Pre-feasibility, Feasibility and Detail engineering projects.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project teams.

  • Work across a continuous succession of small and large, domestic and international projects as they progress through the project lifecycle - from early concept development, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction, commissioning to operations

  • Liaise with internal and external clients, other discipline professionals, and stakeholders within the industry to ensure the timely, accurate and cost effective delivery of projects.

  • Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safety in design practices

What are we looking for? Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Sound knowledge of the mining industry, as well as Canadian regulatory codes and standards

  • Is a professional engineer, and a Registered Member of B.C. Order of Engineers.

  • Will have 15+ years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer, in HV, MV and LV power transmission and distribution systems

  • Extensive engineering experience in a design/consultancy/operational environment; previous experience in an industrial processing and/or mining and metals environment is considered highly desireable.

  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills

  • Proficiency with instrumentation and control systems in industrial applications.

  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with clients, key stakeholders, contractors, co-workers (technical & non-technical staff)

  • Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
