Overview

What is the opportunity?

RBC Insurance is continuing to evolve as a leading insurance provider in Canada, modernizing with innovative solutions to provide exceptional service to our clients. The Solutions Architect role is a key stakeholder in this transformation, championing solutions that bridge innovative creativity with reasonable governance.

The candidate will collaborate with a dynamic team of architects to drive forward the overall modernization of the insurance platform. In this capacity, the candidate will be responsible for developing solution architecture designs supporting RBC Insurance client communications and digital marketing domains.

As a trusted advisor, the candidate will partner with stakeholders across the business and technology domains to establish solution consensus and drive the transformation initiatives forward. As Solutions Architect, the candidate will provide guidance and leadership to agile squads in solution discovery, review, and certification within the framework of RBC architectural governance.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the Insurance business domain and build strong partnerships across the enterprise, while advancing the modernization of core Insurance capabilities.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with business leaders to determine how to best apply technology to enable growth and success (e.g. scalable domain-driven solutions, operational resiliency, best practices).
  • Provide architectural strategic thinking, informed solution designs, and technical expertise input into roadmaps to drive delivery.
  • Participate in 'reuse, buy and build' decisions.
  • Ensure architectural compliance of solutions and introduce recommendations for changes to reference model(s) when needed.
  • Develop and maintain current and target state architectures, with a plan to address gaps.
  • Understand potential impacts of proposed solutions on other systems, processes and/or initiatives.
  • Articulate and document solution designs; considering trade-offs, risks, costs, and benefits.
  • Develop ongoing knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
  • Identify new and emerging solutions, assess relevance and potential value to the organization, and present findings to teammates and management.
  • Participate in day-to-day execution of the digital strategy.
  • Lead the agile teams through RBC's architecture certification workflows for solution blueprints.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Typically requires 5 to 7 years of related experience in Solution Architecture, and 5 years of experience in application design.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the following digital delivery platform concepts: CMS, DAM, CDP. Familiarity with design concepts for digital channel solutions with a lens on data security, marketing capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry practices, with focus on SaaS solutions integrations, micro services, cloud application design, integration design patterns, and domain driven design.
  • Advanced experience in a variety of environments (Public/Private Cloud infrastructures, business workflows, and service integration patterns, datastores)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills, stakeholder management.
  • Ability to influence across multiple squads and stakeholders
