Overview

Senior Broker; Mid-Market Construction – Centre of Excellence

Join Aon’s Mid-Market Construction Centre of Excellence team in Vancouver, BC, and contribute to innovative construction insurance solutions. As a Senior Construction Broker, you’ll collaborate with industry leaders and drive results, supported by a team that values your experience and growth. Reporting to senior leadership, you’ll play a key role in delivering outcomes that matter.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and Aon is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

The salary range for this position is $83,700 - $111,600. Actual salary varies based on education, experience, skills and abilities, and internal equity. Aon also offers a generous incentive earning opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package.

What the day will look like
  • Operating as part of the National Centre of Excellence for Construction (Mid-Market) serving clients across Canada.
  • Collaborates with Account Executives in assigned regions to develop coverage strategy and marketing initiatives for renewal and prospective business in the Construction and Contracting segment.
  • Analyzes client-specific risk exposure and coverage requirements; prepares and presents marketing proposals for renewals and new business.
  • Negotiates with underwriters to establish best terms and conditions for premiums and coverage.
  • Continually develops thought leadership and expertise in the Construction segment through networking, technical training, and market/client discussions.
  • Communicates current trends and issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with the underwriting community focused on construction and contracting specialty markets to benefit the client and the practice.
  • Follows up with insurers to confirm terms of negotiated contracts are met.
  • With other team members, prepares, reviews and approves client-ready documentation, including proposals, analyses, mid-term changes, new business and renewals.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and direction to assist growth and development of Associate Brokers or other broking support staff.
  • Lead by example, promoting best practices across lines of business.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 10+ years’ experience in commercial insurance, especially construction/contracting, with domestic and Lloyds markets.
  • Strong team player who can also work independently.
  • Experience in meetings with senior/executive underwriters and clients.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven client relationship and organizational skills; detail-oriented and able to multitask.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent; licensed in BC (minimum) with ability to obtain other licenses.
  • Working toward or completed CIP, CAIB, or CRM designation; committed to ongoing learning.
