Job description
About Xanadu:

Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere. At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. What we are doing is extremely hard, the classic moon shot. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about!

Your role and responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced and driven ASIC Engineer to join our hardware team and contribute to the development of cutting‑edge photonic quantum computing systems. If you thrive on tackling complex challenges at the intersection of high‑speed analog, high voltage, and advanced semiconductor technologies, we want to hear from you!

This isn’t your typical analog design job. We are building state‑of‑the‑art photonic quantum computers, and this role is critical to controlling and reading out our core hardware. As our Senior Analog IC Design Engineer, you will own the entire lifecycle of custom ASICs built to operate in truly demanding environments. You will be solving unique challenges at the intersection of high‑speed (<10ns) and high‑voltage (up to 100V) design. Critical blocks in the circuits you design will include transimpedance amplifiers and high‑voltage amplifiers and drivers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design & Simulation: Own the specification, schematic capture, and simulation of novel, high‑performance analog and mixed‑signal circuits to meet stringent design targets.
  • Tape‑Out & Production: Drive the entire design flow, from specification through layout, verification, and preparing designs for production (tape‑out).
  • Testing & Characterization: Plan, execute, and analyze results from the lab to test and characterize realized designs against specifications.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with our photonics, packaging, and systems teams to co‑design and solve system‑level integration challenges.
Basic qualifications and experience:
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in analog or mixed‑signal ASIC/IC design.
  • Full‑Cycle Expertise: A proven track record of taking complex designs from initial concept to tested silicon in a lab environment.
  • Technical Mastery: Deep experience designing challenging analog circuits, specifically with high‑speed (<10ns) OR high‑voltage (50V‑100V) constraints. (Expertise in both is a major plus).
  • Process Versatility: Professional design experience across multiple semiconductor process nodes (e.g., CMOS, BiCMOS, BCD, SOI, GaN).
  • Tool Proficiency: Fluency with industry‑standard EDA tools (Cadence environment is strongly preferred).
  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Communication: A strong desire to deliver high quality technical documentation across different formats.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
  • Photonics Experience: Familiarity with photodetectors, optical modulators, or their interface electronics.
  • Advanced Processes: Experience with RF Analog, High Voltage SOI or GaN.
  • Advanced Education: A Ph.D. focused on a relevant IC design topic.
  • DACs: Demonstrated experience designing and verifying various DAC architectures.
