Qualifications

  • Must provide immunization records for various viruses.
  • Able to provide a clean-shaven face for N95 mask fit test.
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider.

Overview

Site Overview: Guelph General Hospital (GGH) is a leading acute care facility located in Guelph, Ontario. With over 165 beds and approximately 1,600 staff, GGH provides 24/7 emergency care and several specialized treatment programs. Security personnel working at this site will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and respectful environment across a busy, high‑traffic healthcare setting that operates around the clock.

Position

Temporary Security Guard - Way Finder (6 Months Contract)

Site: Guelph General Hospital, 115 Delhi St, Guelph, ON N1E 4J4

Hours: Continental Rotating (0800-2000/2000-0800 hrs)

Payrate: $19.63/hr.

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 Hours

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
  • Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Requirements
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Covid Vaccine two doses, and two‑step TB skin test
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Must have one year experience in healthcare security, or law enforcement
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass an N95 mask fit test
  • Ability to walk/climb stairs throughout the premises for longer periods of time
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre‑employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability.
