Position Details:

  • Position: Full‑Time Security Guard
  • Site: North York General Hospital Leslie
  • Overtime: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
  • Hours: Continental Rotation – 0700‑1900 / 1900‑0700
  • Payrate: $20.03/hour
  • Posting Date: December 8, 2025
  • Internal Closing Date: December 12, 2025
  • External Closing Date: December 23, 2025
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, entrances, etc. to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately and complete reports on incidents.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a WSIB‑approved vendor)
  • COVID Vaccine two doses
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and the two‑step TB skin test
  • Valid G‑class Driver License
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UOF/MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.
  • Please be aware: The UO/F/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre‑requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability.
