Sandwiches Maker - Tata Steel Schefferville-Fly in / Fly out

Location: Schefferville, Québec

Position type: Full time, Remote site — Fly In, Fly Out

Rotation: 14 days IN – 14 days OUT

Shift: 10 hours per day

Hourly wage: $19.00 per hour (+ overtime)

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for meals and events, including sandwiches, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Provide high-quality customer service while preparing or serving food to customers.
  • Prepare and cook to order foods with short or standard preparation times; may perform fast food cooking duties as part of service.
  • Produce and serve food in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations; read orders or instructions and prepare accordingly.
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving items in dining areas.
  • Operate kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, and trim ingredients; prepare meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.
  • Estimate food requirements, check production, plan production, and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain clean and sanitized workstations and equipment; follow Sodexo, client, and regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Produce small to large batch goods using classical cooking techniques; may select recipes per menu cycle and prepare bakery items.
  • Receive inventory, move and lift supplies, and prepare meals for customers with special dietary needs.
  • Attend required training programs and allergy/foodborne illness in-service training.
  • Comply with company safety, HACCP policies, and risk management procedures; participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments; report accidents and injuries promptly.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Successfully completed a recognized pre-employment cooking training course
  • 1–2 years of experience in an industrial kitchen (700–1000 persons)
  • 1–2 years of experience with food preparation and cutting
  • 1–2 years of food preparation experience in a high-volume environment
  • 1 year of experience using HACCP food safety processes
  • May accept an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must undergo and pass a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
  • Personal and professional integrity, appearance, and demeanor
  • High School Diploma is an asset but not required
Additional Information

Physical Demands: Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required, including agility, dexterity, and long periods of walking, standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.

Conditions of Employment: Pass mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment where required; valid Food Safe – Level 1 Certificate preferred; valid Occupational First Aid Certification (OFA) Level 1 or 3 preferred; valid WHMIS Certification preferred; valid Class 5 driver’s license preferred (not required for all positions).
