Job summary

A mining company in Nunavut is looking for a Wildlife Monitor to ensure safety in the field. This role involves providing wildlife assessments, reporting wildlife presence, and maintaining a clean work area. Candidates must possess a Firearms Acquisition Certificate and have experience as a Bear Monitor. About Our Operation

The objective of Sanajiksanut is to increase Inuit workforce in all of AEM’s Nunavut operations by contributing to the development of skills and competencies of the Inuit population in the Kivalliq region. The Sanajiksanut Process is composed of 4 steps: Employment Information Session, Online Application, Pre-employment Training, and Employment. In completing these stages of the Sanajiksanut Process, applicants will better prepare themselves for future employment with AEM or one of its contractors. Want to learn more about our operations? Your Next Challenge

Reporting to different departments such as Exploration, Permitting or Construction (depending of the needs), you will support the team by ensuring safety when work is performing on the field. You will be responsible for :

  • Provide safety assessments regarding bear and wildlife for workers on the field;
  • Report any wildlife in the work area;
  • Keep work space and general areas clean and hazard free;
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Possess a valid Firearms Acquisition Certificate (FAC);
  • Proficient handling Fire Arms;
  • Ability to work under physically demanding conditions;
  • Experience as Bear of Wildlife Monitor;
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English;
  • Position reserved for Inuit Beneficiary candidates.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine and Meadowbank is English.

Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site from Kivalliq Communities, Mirabel & Val d'Or.
