About The Position

Within the Comminution Department, you will prepare client samples and perform test work.

Responsibilities
  • Capable of sieving, crushing, homogenizing and splitting samples utilizing ro-tap, Gilson screen, jaw crusher and cone crusher;
  • Able to complete test work using the following equipment: Bond rod mills and ball mills;
  • Able to complete supervised test work using the following equipment: drop weight tester, abrasion tester, bond low impact test, and point loader tester;
  • Maintain own production log (e.g., timecards);
  • General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness;
  • Familiar with all safety rules for the lab and sample prep;
  • Able to handle compositing instructions;
  • Basic routine inspection of equipment;
  • Basic understanding of the electronic computer sample database;
  • Able to perform screen analysis;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good communication and hand coordination skills are required;
  • Good use of English language;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Excel;
  • Forklift license/experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma.
Physical Demands
  • Require some lifting of up to 50 pounds;
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for 8 hours per shift;
  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;
  • Environment can be dusty and warm;
  • Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment.
