Big City Equipment - Sales and Operations Manager

Position Summary:
The Sales and Operations Manager will be responsible for driving sales revenue, ensuring efficient and profitable operations, also leading a small but high-performing team in our Grande Prairie branch. This role requires a dynamic individual who can effectively manage both in-branch activities and client-facing interactions, with a focus on achieving financial targets and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Revenue Growth:
- Execute on, and implement sales strategies to achieve and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets for equipment rentals and sales.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, fostering strong relationships with key clients and expanding market share in the Peace region.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze market trends, and adjust strategies as needed to maximize revenue.
- Margin and Cost Control:
- Oversee financial performance of the Grande Prairie branch, including margin management, forecasting, and expense management.
- Work with executive leadership on annual budgeting, cap ex needs for growth and areas of opportunity
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and optimize operational processes to improve profitability and maintain healthy margins.
- Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Leadership of Team Members:
- Assist with any recruitment plus train, mentor, and motivate a team of Operations team members
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct Semi Annual performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development for team members.
- Overall Inventory Management and Delegation:
- Manage inventory levels for both rental equipment and sales stock, ensuring optimal availability and minimizing holding costs.
- Implement efficient inventory control procedures, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and dispatching.
- Delegate tasks effectively to team members, ensuring clear communication, proper training, and timely completion of responsibilities.
- Client Relations and Branch Operations:
- Spend approximately 50% of time in the branch, overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Dedicate approximately 50% of time to client-facing activities, including sales calls, site visits, and relationship management.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in sales and operations management within the equipment rental and sales industry.
- Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, cash flow management, cost control, and profit and loss analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and sales software.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Grande Prairie and Peace region.
Education and Experience:
- Relevant and proven industry experience
- Proven track record in sales and or leadership
- Strong customer service back ground
- Formal education in sales and or leadership considered an asset
- Formal management or financial education and or training considered an asset
