Qualifications
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field of study.
- 2‑6 years of experience with occupational health and safety management.
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate an asset.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety management, applicable federal, provincial and municipal regulations/legislation, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations and applicable Human Rights.
- Knowledge of WSIB processes and procedures.
- Experience with accident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis is preferred.
- Willing to actively participate in continuous professional development throughout the course of employment.
- Proven ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and records.
- Service‑oriented with specific attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
- Lead facility Health, Safety efforts and program development.
- Initiate and maintain programs to ensure compliance with objectives, policy and government rules and regulations pertaining to Occupational Health, Safety (CSA, MOL).
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of all provincial and federal Health, Safety laws and regulations pertaining to the plant.
- Maintain accurate records regarding safety incidents, injuries and corporate reporting and ensure activities are handled in a timely manner.
- Drive improvements based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Act as a resource to and/or serve as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Team to develop and maintain an internal audit system including corrective actions and tracking system.
- Ensure an adequate industrial hygiene‑testing program is in place and any remedial action arising out of testing is taken.
- Develop, revise and update all Health, Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Early Safe Return to Work (ESRTW) policy.
- Manage/Support WSIB Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims/records.
- Facilitate/Support accident/incident investigation and initiate proper corrective actions.
- Maintain favourable working relationship, i.e., liaise with regulatory agencies including City, MOL, MOE, Fire Department, etc.
- Facilitate/Support Health & Safety Training Programs.
- Lead/Support facility Ergonomic Program development efforts.
- Work with different departments on workplace design, equipment design, workflow and work process to ensure safe work cells and to incorporate 5S principles.
- Manage the Contractor Safety Program.

Salary
- Expected Wage Range $65,000‑85,000*/year.
- *This represents the expected hiring range and is inclusive of total compensation. This may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications and experience.
- This position is a day shift Monday‑Friday but works in a 24/7 operation so may at times be needed to support outside these hours.
