General Summary

The Apprentice Nondestructive Testing technician assists the Technician or Sr Technician performing inspections utilizing various NDT techniques seeking corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The Apprentice may calibrate instruments or perform other duties under the supervision of a certified Technician / Sr Technician.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
  2. Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM's Core Values.
  3. Assists the Technician or Sr. Technician on NDT inspections.
  4. Studies to gain NDT certifications while assisting and gaining hands-on experience in various NDT methods.
  5. Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. An understanding of basic math.
  3. Ability to work in Microsoft Word.
  4. Ability to work with computers / computerized equipment.
  5. Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
  6. Travel requirement: 0-75%.
  7. Ability to handle chemicals in a safe manner.
  8. Ability to follow instructions.
  9. May be required to travel out of town periodically.
Work Conditions
  1. Position is based out of a branch or site location.
  2. Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
  3. Interaction with other crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
  4. Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  5. Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  6. May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  1. Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  2. Must be able to walk and climb, except when performing non-field duties.
  3. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, to communicate effectively.
  4. Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation to perform routine office duties.
  5. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
  6. Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
  7. Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
  8. Excellent communication skills.
