A consulting firm in Toronto is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Leader to manage complex IT projects. Description

  • Plan, establish priorities and aid in project tasks as needed. Coordinate project team members and complete assigned tasks within allocated time.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to manage expectations and implement performance metrics to measure project success.
  • Create and manage the assigned work package within the overall project plan, including all components, documents and reports.
  • Develop project schedules considering objectives, responsibilities, accountabilities, timelines and resource availability.
  • Identify inherent and developing project risks and issues; make recommendations to mitigate risks and escalates issues.
  • Promote Public Sector I&IT project‑management best practices, resource‑management standards, and adhere to standard methodologies.
  • Manage projects to Public Sector I&IT Standards.
  • Participate in steering‑committee and stakeholder forums.
  • Provide project reporting to multi‑stakeholders at senior executive levels.
  • Proactively identify risks and issues pertaining to the assigned work package, report them to the overall Project Champions and the Portfolio Team, and mitigate them.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of business cases (e.g., management‑board submissions) to seek approval for long‑term support & maintenance contracts with Ministry vendors.
  • Coordinate project plans with Public Safety Operations.
  • Possess experience working on the PSRN project and must be able to travel to multiple dispatch centres/CACCs across the province to provide project support and coordinate/remediate telephony training for the PSRN solution.
  • Work at the designated head office 3 days a week.
Skills Experience and Skill Set Requirements
Project Management and Coordination Skills
  • 5+ years of experience with Project Management.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management methodologies, producing documentation, collaterals, and artefacts.
  • Demonstrated experience with project and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong MS Project and SharePoint knowledge.
  • Demonstrated IT project‑management experience managing all phases (concept, definition, planning, implementation, and closeout) of large‑scale, complex IT projects.
  • Effectively manages large project budgets and ensures fiscal control, including estimates, forecasts, and reconciliation/confirmation of actuals.
  • Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Content Management.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and developing requirements for project charters and integrated project plans.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and evaluating specific issues or risks, providing options analysis and recommending action plans to mitigate risks.
  • Experience with the PSRN project.
Analytic and Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with a large project team.
  • Prepared and distributed project updates, progress reports to stakeholders while managing scope and timeline expectations.
  • Identified and acquired a mix of skilled technical resources necessary to complete project assignments/deliverables, including clarifying roles and responsibilities.
  • Communicated across many functional areas to engage stakeholders and manage client expectations, using appropriate political acuity and messaging.
  • Written communication skills to prepare authoritative recommendations, proposals, and reports such as Briefing Notes and executive presentations.
  • Team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Strong discipline in resolving resourcing and interpersonal conflicts and sharing knowledge among team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Led presentations for senior management, stakeholders, and teams.
  • Acted independently and made decisions that achieved optimal results with minimal supervision.
Technical Experience
  • Experience with back‑end technology of radio and paging systems.
  • Led a project from market scanning, procurement, planning, implementation to completion.
Industry Experience
  • Experience with the land ambulance sector and its stakeholders would be an asset.
  • Experience managing projects related to 24x7 critical environments and operations.
Must Haves
  • Experience with the PSRN project.
  • Demonstrated IT project‑management experience managing all phases of large‑scale, complex IT projects.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and acquiring a mix of skilled technical resources necessary to complete project assignments/deliverables; includes clarifying roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with back‑end technology of radio and paging systems.
NOTE

The resource will be required to travel to multiple dispatch centres/CACCs across the province to provide project support and coordinate/remediate the telephony training in order to implement the new PSRN solution.

The position is currently listed as "Hybrid" – consultants will be required to work partly in the physical workplace and partly remotely. The details of this arrangement will be at the Hiring Manager's discretion.
