RETURN TO WORK COORDINATOR, HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

WHAT THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT!

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), the Return to Work Coordinator will manage and facilitate the Return to Work program, coordinate Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) claims, and support injured employees through accommodations and rehabilitation processes. This role will be based in the Winnipeg office and may require occasional evening and weekend availability.

ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS WE NEED FROM YOU!

Responsibilities
  • Manage return-to-work program and guidelines.
  • Facilitate WCB and WSIB Return to Work program.
  • Recommend changes to the WCB Return to Work program.
  • Monitor and coordinate employee accommodations based on guidelines.
  • Investigate mechanisms of injury for WCB claims.
  • Support HSE Team and management with WCB claim information.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all WCB claims and accommodations.
  • Act as point of contact between WCB and operations team for employee claims.
  • Coordinate exchange of information between HSE team and medical providers.
  • Collect and provide data for WCB hearing loss claims.
  • Track and analyze trends in workplace injuries to recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare weekly safety and modified duty statistics.
  • Collect safety program and WCB injury statistics for management.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on return-to-work procedures and injury prevention.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee health information and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with People & Culture and legal teams to ensure compliance with provincial and federal employment laws.
  • Coordinate office ergonomics resources and perform assessments.
  • Organize and schedule audiometric testing with contractors.
  • Coordinate mandatory hearing testing for categorized employees.
  • Administer safety-related programs including respiratory, hearing conservation, and PPE.
  • Process invoices for safety-related programs and equipment.
  • Report to various prequalification systems (ISNET, Avetta, Complyworks, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Certificate in Claims Management or Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation Act and its guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety-related company administrative policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of municipal and federal health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Working knowledge of PCs within the company's current operating system environment will be considered an asset.
  • Confidence and ability to manage risks and stop activities when risks escalate.
  • Ability to manage confidential information is mandatory.
  • Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills are required.
  • Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written as well as electronically.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage priorities, perform a variety of tasks and meet targets.
  • Ability to travel to site if required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to present a clear security clearance check and pass an alcohol & drug test prior to commencing employment and if required, throughout employment.
