Sagkeeng Child and Family Services is seeking casual Respite Workers for our dynamic and growing organization. As a Respite Worker you will enjoy working a flexible schedule in a rewarding position.

Sagkeeng Child and Family Services believes that respite care is an essential part of the overall support to families. Respite Workers will provide care and supervision according to individual child’s needs, including activities of daily living such as feeding, toileting and dressing, as well as providing learning opportunities and behavioral support with the child’s participation in events and activities. Respite Workers at our centres provide a calm and secure environment for staff to support the child during respite care.

Salary : 20.00

Responsibilities
  • Provide care and supervision according to the care plan which meets the individual child’s needs at a private home, community and/or centre.
  • Support activities of daily living such as toileting, diapering, dressing and feeding children of all ages.
  • Provide learning opportunities and behavioural support.
  • Support children with activities and participate in events and activities as appropriate.
  • Contribute to a calm and secure environment to support the child during respite care.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Flexible and responsive; experience working with or caring for children.
  • Experience with behavior management strategies; experience working with disabilities / special needs is a definite asset.
  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector, a child abuse registry check and First Aid & Level-C CPR.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Available for day and evening shifts, Monday through Saturday.
