What You'll Do

As a Reporting Specialist at Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, you will play an integral role centralizing the Charity’s reporting processes. You will be joining the Drive team responsible for financial operations, governance, and reporting. You’ll primarily gather, analyze, and interpret data to create detailed reports that help the Charity make informed decisions. You’ll ensure the accuracy and timeliness of these reports using various tools and software to present the information clearly and effectively for use to drive performance and business strategy, understandable by different audiences. You will own and manage the Charity’s flow of all reporting requirements to both internal and external stakeholders, working closely with the team responsible for data strategy and management. You’ll explore opportunities to integrate emerging AI-powered tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT in reporting.

Data Collection
  • Collect, verify, and analyze operational and impact data from various sources. Translate raw data into accessible summaries to inform information sharing, and strategic decision-making. This could include summarizing data useful for budget planning, etc. Implement checks and tools to improve data integrity and traceability.
  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and summarize detailed data for broader understanding.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and performance across data assets.
Information and Data Stewardship
  • Own and manage the Charity’s flow of all key information and reporting requirements to internal and external stakeholders. This will include timely reporting, gathering of relevant information, and ensuring that information is received by the right person to meet reporting requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with Jumpstart team members to respond to ad hoc requests.
Systems Maintenance and Stewardship
  • Support the development of Jumpstart systems to enhance capability in line with new data collection processes (for example Smart Simple, Raiser’s Edge). The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the foundational ability to edit and build systems.
  • Leverage innovative tools and technology available from Canadian Tire Corporate that can be used to improve and develop Jumpstart’s systems and processes.
Reporting
  • Generate regular reports on program metrics, donor information, and other key performance indicators to provide summaries of key information.
  • Create clear and compelling written and visual summaries to communicate effectively to a variety of internal and external audiences (including translating technical financial, program, and impact data into accessible summaries that meet audiences’ level of understanding and consider the purpose of the information).
  • Prepare timely reports for regulatory compliance, government, and internal audits and other ad-hoc reports as requested.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Data Manager, Program Managers, and other departments to gather data and information relevant to monitoring and evaluation, and other data requirements. Provide relevant input into data reporting for Jumpstart's measurement, evaluation and learning plans and platforms.
  • Provide relevant analysis of financial information related to delivering impact under the Charity’s strategy to inform measurement and evaluation as required and briefed by Director of Finance and Reporting or other senior colleagues.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for all procedures and processes related to the reporting function.
What You Bring
  • A degree in Business, Business Management/Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in reporting, data analytics, BI development, or related roles.
  • Basic exposure to data governance, metadata management, and documentation.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets efficiently, with a passion for digging into both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, a structured approach to analysis, and the ability to develop logical arguments.
  • Strong people skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to understand their need and solve problems through information sharing.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to summarize complex information into digestible and accessible communications.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to keep track of numerous workstreams, timelines and requirements. Working knowledge in Power BI (i.e. DAX, measures) or similar BI tools.
  • Familiarity with Databricks and an interest in implementing AI-enhanced solutions like Copilot or ChatGPT.
