Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Ontario seeks a Registered Practical Nurse for the Multispecialty Surgical Unit. This role demands providing patient-centered care across various surgical specialties and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient and family centered care for patients across surgical specialties, including reconstructive orthopaedics, oral-maxillofacial surgery (OMFS), ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgery, urological/oncological gynecology, and ophthalmology
  • Complete physical assessments on patients
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance to the CNO standards and Sinai Health's policy and procedures
  • Administer medications and provide any necessary care (including, but not limited to wound care, IVs, monitoring drains, prepare patients for procedures, etc.)
  • Attend nursing rounds and participate in patient/family meetings
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, social workers, clinical nurse specialists, etc.
  • Apply a broad range of nursing skills and procedures including (but not limited to) CADD pumps, chest tubes, nephrostomy tubes, complex wounds, central lines, enteral feeding tubes, TPN, CIWA monitoring, managing a Code Blues, and chemotherapy
  • Participate in the mentoring of learners, peers and other regulated and unregulated health professionals
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Qualifications

Job Requirements:
Mandatory

  • Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Graduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing (PN) program. Equivalent combined education and experience will be considered
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Preferred

  • 2 years of recent acute care clinical experience
