Job description
Unit Summary

The express unit is a transitional unit providing care for adult patients awaiting admission and discharge, supporting the Juravinski Hospital and the JCC.

Position Summary

As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on Ward Inpatient Hold.

Schedule Work Hours: days, nights, weekends, holidays

Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or eligible for temporary registration
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of assessment and management in a broad range of disease processes
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and experience in Acute Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Oncology and Hematology nursing
  • Demonstrated expertise in physical assessment, telemetry, rehabilitative approaches and health teaching
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of cardiac and respiratory arrest procedures with a current BCLS certificate
  • Knowledge of the nursing care plan and evidence of ability to utilize problem-solving and critical-thinking techniques effectively in an acute medical / surgical setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, both in hospital and in the community
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated strong leadership ability and organizational skills, with evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Ability to perform well in a fast paced environment
