Job description

Our Health, Safety & Environment group is currently growing and is looking to add a Regional Health and Safety Supervisor to the team, based in Vaughan, ON.

Reporting to the Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental Director/Manager, the Regional Health and Safety Supervisor provides advice and support to management teams, direct reports, and supervisors, within the assigned geographical area.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Define, communicate, and enforce the roles and accountabilities of Safety Supervisors and Advisors
  • Ensure compliance with Valard HS&E policies, applicable legislation, client requirements, and industry standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes and communicate impacts to project and corporate leadership
  • Ensure Site Safety Management Plans (SMPs) are established, implemented, and maintained for all projects
  • Implement corporate safety strategies and performance measures
  • Maintain a visible field presence through site visits, conversations, and documented observations
  • Identify safety risks, trends, and non-compliances; recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to Safety Supervisors, Advisors, and project teams
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with direct reports and document outcomes
  • Ensure incidents are reported within required timelines and correctly classified under the established framework
  • Determine investigation involvement based on incident severity and ensure root cause analysis is completed
  • Review incident reports for accuracy and ensure final submissions to head office within 72 hours
  • Ensure corrective actions are tracked, completed, and sustained
  • Support development and distribution of safety alerts and shared learning
  • Compile, analyze, and report safety performance metrics, trends, and field findings
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety reports to the Corporate Safety Director/Manager
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety performance, operational efficiency, and cost
  • Prepare for and participate in audits including COR, ISO 45001, and client/owner audits
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, client representatives, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure client safety obligations are understood and met at the project level
  • Provide safety input during pre-award, tendering, and early project phases, including hazard identification
  • Communicate significant safety issues, risks, and concerns to the Corporate Safety Director/Manager
  • Coordinate regular meetings with Safety Supervisors and Advisors to review issues, trends, and upcoming activities
  • Participate in quarterly leadership meetings and contribute agenda items
  • Post-Secondary Education in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) certification
  • 5 years of progressive experience in Construction Safety
  • Demonstrated experience with Incident Investigation including Root cause investigation
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a satisfactory drivers abstract
  • Demonstrated familiarity with applicable provincial legislations

This position offers an annual base salary of $95 000 - $125 000, depending on experience and qualifications.
