A large food processing company in Etobicoke is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic 313A to install and troubleshoot industrial refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate has a 313A Refrigeration License and at least 5 years of relevant experience. This unionized position offers a competitive pay starting at $44/hr with benefits after 3 months.

Job description
Overview

Refrigeration Mechanic 313A We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Refrigeration Mechanic 313A to join our team for a large food processing company located in Etobicoke. Pay: $44.00 / hr for the first 3 months (probation) then $45.00 / hr. $1.00 / hr premium for each additional relevant license.

Pension after 3 months (2% company match)

Health and Dental benefits after 3 months

Unionized (SEIU, Local 2) Shift Times: Days 6am – 2:30pm Monday – Friday, (some weekends and overtime required)

Benefits and Schedule

Includes pension with company match after 3 months, health and dental benefits after 3 months, and union representation. Shift is days with some weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities
  • Refrigeration system installation as per applicable codes
  • Hot gas and TX valve adjustments
  • Refrigeration system troubleshooting & repairs
  • Understanding of Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Communicate refrigeration issues and solutions with associates
  • Understands programmable controls and is computer literate
  • Trouble shooting Roof Top Air Conditioning heating units and Boilers
  • Performs all repairs, develop and carry out preventative maintenance inspections, follows preventative maintenance schedule to sustain optimal performance of equipment and minimize downtime and costs in compliance with HACCP rules, JSA’s and SOP’s and other requirements.
  • Responsible for completing a work schedule in cooperation with departments and Maintenance & Production Supervisors
  • Acts a liaison for contractors conducting repairs in the plant
  • Ensures that all required documentation is completed correctly and on-time. i.e. Daily Time Sheets, pre-operational forms, preventative maintenance logs, temperature recording and equipment monitoring, work orders, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required
Requirements
  • 313A Refrigeration License
  • Ontario Freon Handling License ODP (Ozone Depleting Prevention)
  • G-2 Gas technician fitter license would be an asset
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Industrial Freon-based refrigeration systems
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken English
  • Additional Skilled Trade Licenses would be an asset
  • Assess decision making qualities and work under pressure
  • Work in conditions under 10˚C.
  • Responsible for compliance to Health and Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety and Environmental Standards at all times.
