Description

G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre is recruiting an experienced Recreation Receptionist. The successful candidate will have considerable contact with the public involving program registration, answering telephone and counter inquiries, preferably within a Recreation environment. Additionally, they'll have an eye for detail and a strong ability to multi-task. Reception staff are the first point of contact for this dynamic, busy centre. Working in a team, Receptionists are responsible for providing excellent customer service.

Requirements include grade 12 or equivalent. Six continuous months experience within the past five (5) years working in a public facing reception counter environment with cash handling, including receiving and processing computerized registrations (or similar) experience in a fast-paced customer service environment; including three months' experience within the past five (5) years of general office administrative work. Preference may be given to those with a Recreation Centre background. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with computerized registration management system. Preference may be given to those with recreation registration software experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service at the front desk, including program registration and handling inquiries by telephone and in person.
  • Assist with public-facing reception duties in a fast-paced recreation centre environment.
  • Support program registrations, cash handling, and basic administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and accurate information flow.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent. Six months of continuous experience in a public-facing reception counter environment with cash handling within the past five years; experience with computerized registrations or similar systems; and three months of general office administrative work within the past five years.
  • Preference for candidates with a Recreation Centre background and/or experience with recreation registration software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a computerized registration management system.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must be available to work varying shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Base of 14 hours per week with potential to increase.
