Job summary

A leading manufacturer in product stewardship located in the Peel Region of Mississauga is seeking a Laboratory Analyst. In this role, you will analyze raw materials and finished products while ensuring compliance with GMP regulations. A BSc degree in Chemistry is required along with relevant experience in consumer food or personal care products. Proficiency in Microsoft tools for data management is desired.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry required.
  • Experience in consumer food or personal care products preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Analysis and release of incoming raw materials, propellants, in-process bulk and finished product as per current lab procedures, SOPs and GMPs.
  • Thorough knowledge of procedures and instrumentation used in the laboratory including HPLC, GC, and FTIR.
  • Follow GMPs, GLPs and GDPs at all times.
  • Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and measuring devices.
  • Record all results and maintain all records in lab books, log books, and Mixing Production Records. Perform calculations for batch adjustment.
  • Verify test data and incoming inspection forms for food, OTC and personal care products.
  • Review and sign OTC logbooks for all lab testing (example: raw materials, bulk, FG, gas).
  • Manage and audit lab equipment and their calibration. Review/ sign/ retain all equipment records
  • Micro sampling for specified batches, chemicals and water and prepare samples for shipment.
  • Incoming RM inspection, sampling, log, test and release RM and send for outside testing as required.
  • Maintenance of lab waste.
  • Clean fume-hood and all laboratory areas as per schedule and when needed.
  • Keep retention samples and dispose of old retain chemicals and concentrates once a year.
  • Ensure maintenance all QC records, test methods, operating manuals, QC equipment and accessories per the applicable SOP’s.
  • Ensure on regular basis that procedures are followed and work is done correctly.
  • Ensure management of lab instrumentation to ensure proper identification, preventive maintenance, back up of methods and records.
  • Ensure management of all lab files as per GDP.
  • Ensure manage laboratory standards, reference materials and lab chemicals.
  • Troubleshoot, identify and solve chemistry related problems in consultation with Quality Manager.
  • Prepare Bulk and RM Analysis forms for OTC, food and personal care products if required.
  • Revise and write applicable SOPs, Change Control, NCR, OOS, Deviation process and analytical testing procedures
  • Perform testing as required for chemistry related customer complaints.
  • Maintain master files, concentrate and finished goods files
  • Follow all the HC and FDA GMP regulations applicable to the lab and chemistry.
  • Liaise with other departments as required.
  • Ensure that all training on current SOPs and client specific methods is up to date.
Experience, Education
  • BSc degree in chemistry
  • Relevant experience in consumer food, personal care products or OTC products.
  • Experience utilizing intermediate levels of Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint & Word - Use of Microsoft Excel for data management & to prepare charts/graphs is desirable
