Duties
  • Exercising technical and financial authority for infrastructure projects ranging in value from $100,000 to $25,000,000.
  • Developing statements of requirements, scopes of work and briefing documents for third party design consultants.
  • Reviewing the work of third party design consultants.
  • Producing high level cost estimates.
  • Preparing all documentation required for contract tending.
  • Preparing and maintaining funding documents and purchase requests.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Providing ongoing communications to management and other project stakeholders regarding project progress, costs and timelines.

Intent of the process

The intent is to fill one English essential EG-06 position in Victoria, British Columbia, on an indeterminate (permanent) basis. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to fill similar positions with varying tenures, linguistic profiles, and/or security requirements at DND.

Education
  • A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note 1: Employer-approved alternatives include: a satisfactory score on a PSC test or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience. Relevant technical fields include electrical, building controls, automation systems, mechanical, architectural, or civil.

Experience

EX1: Experience in design, implementation or management of projects in construction or engineering disciplines with understanding of two others. EX2: Experience managing budgets for multi-discipline projects. EX3: Experience providing technical advice to multi-disciplined project teams. EX4: Experience in project management practices, contract administration, and project development.

Security: Various. Must possess and maintain a valid class “5” driver’s license (British Columbia or equivalent). Willing to obtain and maintain a DND 404 military driver’s licence. A current driver’s abstract may be required.
