Job summary

A leading construction firm in Canada is searching for a Project Engineer to support project managers in delivering engineering projects in Saint John, New Brunswick. This full-time role involves ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while collaborating with various teams. A successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology, alongside strong computer skills and effective communication abilities. This position offers a permanent contract with a 37.5 hour work week, Monday to Friday, in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Atlantica is recruiting for innovative and collaborative candidates for a Project Engineer position in Saint John, New Brunswick. As a key member of the team, you will support project managers in the delivery of assigned projects.

Equipped with leading-edge technologies, Atlantica’s highly skilled workforce executes a wide range of mechanical and electrical construction projects from design and fabrication to fire protection and maintenance services throughout a building’s life cycle to provide customized solutions to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in all aspects of assigned projects to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery
  • Provide reports on project status to Project Managers and the Operations Manager
  • Participate in project meetings regarding mechanical issues and handle technical inquiries.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with the General Contractor, client, and consulting engineers; Including assisting them to resolve problems and liaise on the integration of systems.
  • Prepare operational manual documentation package and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
  • Collaborate with Project Services, Finance, Safety, and Estimating teams to ensure project schedule and delivery are on track.
  • Work with Superintendents, Supervisors, Forepersons, and trades in the field.
  • Work closely with the Estimating team to integrate bid and project methodology, as well as throughout the project on estimating project expenses.
  • Ensure working drawings are developed, when required, and review specifications and shop drawings.
  • Manage change orders, prepare documentation for claims, ensure monthly progress bills are accurate and issued.
  • Review timesheets from field and format reports for payroll and cost control.
  • Participate in debriefing session when projects are deemed substantially complete.
Education And Experience
  • 3+ years' of related experience
  • Technical knowledge in the Mechanical discipline
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree, Diploma in Engineering Technology, and/or relevant work experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/CAD models would be considered an asset
  • Experience managing engineering drawing revisions.
