The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and customer-focused Program Leaders to deliver safe, engaging, and inclusive recreation programs, day camps, and outdoor activities for all ages. Reporting to the Recreation Program Specialist, this role supports program delivery, facility operations, and community engagement while providing hands‑on supervision and instruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, facilitate, and deliver year‑round recreation programs, drop‑in activities, registered programs, and seasonal day camps.
  • Supervise participants, staff, and volunteers, ensuring safety, inclusion, and a positive environment.
  • Prepare lesson plans, materials, and activity setups, and maintain organized program spaces.
  • Facilitate outdoor programming through the Play in the Park initiative, including transporting, setting up, and taking down mobile equipment.
  • Implement safety procedures, sign‑in/out protocols, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support facility events, including set‑up, supervision, coordination, and take‑down.
  • Provide excellent customer service, respond to inquiries, and represent the Town in a professional and positive manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other Town departments to support operational needs and community initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Enrollment in Recreation and Leisure, Child Studies, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience leading or supervising recreation programs, day camps, or youth-focused activities.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service and working with diverse groups.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C with AED certification.
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Class G driver’s license required for Play in the Park program.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment and enforce rules effectively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and school breaks at various locations.
Working Conditions
  • Seasonal position with variable hours based on program schedules and operational requirements.
  • Work is conducted at various indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and local parks.
